A LOVELY WEEKEND
Friday - it was hot and sunny. Tim went out and brought a sandpit which has a lid bit that can be used as a paddling pool. He brought it home and set the whole lot up and Rosie spent pretty much all day out there paddling and playing in the sand.
Saturday - a lovely person on our home-ed email list gave us (on the condition that we went and dismantled it and took it away - no problem!)a playhouse for the garden. Rosie has been desperate for one of these for ages so was beside herself with excitement. The house needs a coat of paint to tidy it up a bit and Rosie has already planned the colour-scheme - turquoise and pink - mmmm! lol
Sunday - My brother's birthday! He came over and had his pressies and cake and then he and Tim went (in my FIL's filthy Landrover!) to pick up the playhouse. It was pretty late by the time they got back so it had to stay in bits in the garden over night.
Monday - James came back and gave Tim a hand to reassemble the playhouse. Rosie has now furnished it with a table and chair and her play cooker and is now keeping on about "a bit of old carpet in the garage" which she also wants lol!
Tomorrow (Tuesday) and Wednesday Rosie has her technical and dress rehersals and Friday is the first proper show!! No sign of nerves..... yet!

BUTTERFLIES LAPBOOK

The cover!

Inside, top flap. This shows the layout. We have vocabulary, life cycle of a butterfly, types of butterflies and flowers butterflies like.

The same but with the little mini books open.

The underneath section with a butterfly poem and butterfly facts.
We had huge amounts of fun making this and Rosie really got into it and has chosen to make a lapbook about medieval castles next. Watch this space!

A TOOTH!!
On an educational front, we've got into lapbooks. Lapbooks are a bit of a craze amongst homeschoolers at the mo. Basically, you do a unit study but gather all the bits and pieces you learn into little mini books inside a big folder type book. I'll have our first effort (butterflies) up here for viewing shortly. Next week we're doing medieval castles.
Also, we've gotten out of an LEA visit! I sent them some samples of Rosie's work and they're doing a report on that instead. No problems, no hassle! Perfect. It MIGHT have something to do with the fact that we have had a visit before at our old address which was glowing (the report that is, not our address lol!) and maybe they don't feel the need to come round now. I don't know, but it's fab! :)

IDYLLIC
This is the kind of Sunday morning I like. It's warm, sunny, the birds are singing and it's PEACEFUL. April's asleep in her buggy, Rosie's happily Hama beading and the cat's are sprawled out in a sunny spot. There's no telly on, there's homemade bread baking and the kids look cute in their summer frocks. It all sounds just toooo good to be true.
Give it five minutes are the telly will be blaring, Rosie will have spilled the beads everywhere and April will be covered in dribble, thus ruining her cute summer dress. In other words we'll be back to normal LOL!
I'm enjoying it while it lasts!
PS - here's a couple of the designs Rosie's been working on - a multi coloured cat and an Eye of Horus. Not bad! :)
