END OF FIAR WEEK ONE

We've completed our first week of Five in a Row (FIAR) volume 1 - we actually had our last lesson today as Rosie had a day off in the week as she's had a bad cold. I have to say, we've thoroughly enjoyed it!

This week, using The Story About Ping, Rosie's practiced her counting, learned the difference between fiction and non-fiction writing (and wrote her own once upon a time.. story), discussed and wrote up some interesting facts about the Yangtze River in China, learned how to draw water in art and, finally, in science did an experiment in buoyancy and wrote up the results in her notebook. All-in-all a successful and interesting week.

Next week we're doing "general" homeschool stuff - maths workbook, handwriting practice, French etc. I'm doing this because in order to fill a whole school year (30 weeks) with FIAR you have to schedule it one week on and one week off. So, next week is workbook week and then the following week we'll be back to FIAR - this time with "Lentil".

Also, this week, Rosie had her ballet class and her teacher informed us that they are putting on a performance in June called "Disney!" and she asked whether Rosie would like to take part (apparently she's going to play the part of a doll - presumably one that comes to life and dances! lol) It's pretty amazing that she's going to take part in a performance so soon after starting lessons but Natalie said that she's picking it up incredibly quickly! Anyway, we're off out next week to buy her dance uniform -(she's been in leggings and tshirt up to now) - pink leotard, pink tutu and pink ballet shoes. Rosie's going to look very cute! :)
